What Is Parasomnia

Parasomnia is a sleep disorder in which during the sleeping period an individual faces conditions like sleepwalking, hallucinations, bedwetting etc.

Some of the common instances of parasomnia are as follows

Sleep Walking:
The person may not be aware and at a certain phase of sleeping period may get up and start walking. This episode may last from minutes to hours.

Night Sleep Terrors:
Due to frightening dreams the individual gets up screaming, refusing to calm down. The individual will really be in a state of tension and anxiety and in most cases cry bitterly. After which he/she will wake up, calm down and then go back to sleep.

Grinding Your Teeth: Sometimes the emotions an individual faces in a dream is felt so real, that an individual expresses emotions like grinding of teeth with a humming sound.

Rhythmic Movements:
In some instances an individual consistently rocks his body or bangs his head or rolls his head. These movements before the individual goes to bed or is already in deep sleep.

It is important that one takes medical treatment and maintains a sleep schedule, sleeping and waking up at the time specified everyday. Also not taking alcohol and drugs will greatly help.
