Consequences Of Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea is a sleeping disorder in which the person is unable to breathe while asleep. The person may have few such short instances of breathlessness and as a result snore, stop breathing, gasp or snort.

Obesity and too much of tissue in the upper air way are major causes of sleep apnea.

Due to apnea there is a drop in the oxygen level in the blood, with an increased release of stress hormones and disrupted sleep.

Consequences of Sleep apnea

Sleep apnea if left untreated can have a lot of negative consequences. Some of which are as follows

·    Instances of Stroke or transient ischemic attacks
·    Chances of suffering from coronary heart diseases
·    Worse of all Heart failure
·    Irregular heartbeats
·    Heart attacks
·    High blood pressure
·    Heartburn and reflux
·    Diabetes
·    Men suffering from Erectile dysfunction
·    Concentration and memory loss
·    Psychological problems like depression
·    Sudden death while asleep.

It is therefore very important that one takes the necessary precautions and consults a doctor in order to avoid suffering from any of the negative consequences.
