Why Teens Find It Hard To Sleep

Posted on October 30, 2008 in Latest News

When kids reach adolescence they very often have trouble falling asleep. Some find it weird because even when they go to bed early they end up sleeping very late at night. No matter how much they try to sleep,  they find it hard to go to bed, and this later becomes a cause of concern amongst them.

This phenomenon is very common amongst teens and should not be a cause of worry. During adolescence with hormonal fluctuations there is also a change in individuals internal clock timings. That is the sleep-inducing enzyme called melatonin that triggers sleep, is produced very late in teens, compared to adults and children.

This condition however, will reduce over a period of time. But if it continues to persist for long then the individual should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
