How Do Sleeping Pills Function ?

Our human body is created in a very systematic and orderly fashion. The body has its own regulatory systems of waking and sleeping. The presence of sunlight triggers hormones that wake the individual up and prepare him/her for action. As evening draws near, the body tends to slow down, activities become more sluggish and the absence of slight triggers the production of another hormone called “Melatonin”.

This hormone prepares the body to go to bed, thus making the individual drowsy and sleepy. When this cycle of waking and sleeping is disturbed, the body faces some kind of disorder. And one such disorder is “Insomnia”.

So to deal with this problem, one is advised to take sleeping pills as a remedy by doctors. The functions of Sleeping Pills are similar to that of the hormone “Melatonin”. The sleeping pills send signals to the brain that it is time to sleep, and that the body needs rest.

The central nervous system is dampened and its ability to function is reduced, forcing an individual to go to bed. Sleeping Pills are very effective for people who have been suffering from insomnia for long and also for those who have trouble falling asleep.

However, they shouldn’t be used regularly, as experts consider them to be harmful for the body.
