Depression and Insomnia

Insomnia does not happen all of a sudden. It is said to occur due to a lot of other related factors and out of the several factors “Depression” is one of the major causes of Insomnia.

Why depression causes insomnia?

Often when in depression people think they can sleep over all their troubles. But in actuality people tend to get worse when in depression. There are a lot of things on their mind, troubling them, causing them to have less sleep.

The mind will not be able to rest or sleep when worried over lots of things. The mind races with lot of aspects refusing the brain to take rest.

As a result of this they have a lot of trouble sleeping at night and they remain awake for a long period of time.

When something is constantly being thought of, people find it very difficult to fall asleep, as a result of this insomniacs are advised not to read newspapers or listen to news before going to bed, but are asked to meditate or read something spiritual that will calm and soothe them down.

Also, listening to relaxing music will help greatly calm an individual.

An individual who wants to deal with insomnia should first deal with depression by taking psychiatric and psychological help.

Dealing with the root cause will help an individual overcome his/her anxieties and fears. Thereby helping them overcome insomnia.
