Many people suffer from insomnia due to sleep disturbance. Noise, light, stressors, pain, or disease can all cause sleep disturbance. The key to overcoming sleep disturbance is to realize the importance of sleep and taking the necessary measures to minimize the disturbances.

How to Prevent Sleep Disturbance:
Here are a few tips to prevent sleep disturbance:
- Keep the noise level in the bedroom minimum. You can ask your family or friends to minimize the sound or you can also use ear plugs to put the sound off
- Avoid bright light in the bedroom. Darkness signals the brain that it is time to sleep. However, bright light can work against your sleeping efforts. Hence, try to keep the light low. You can also use sleeping eye mask to shut out the light
- Make sure the room temperature is comfortable – not too hot nor too cold. This can help you to sleep properly
- Avoid exercising just before bedtime
- Avoid caffeine, nicotine before going to sleep as they can cause sleep distrubance
- As stress and anxiety can lead to insomnia, find ways to minimize them. You can listen to relaxing music or have a warm bath which can help to calm down. You can also write a to-do list for the next day, which can help you to calm down the anxiety
Sleep disturbance can cause insomnia. However, lifestyle changes such as keeping the noise, light low can help in minizing it. You can also use sleeping eye masks or ear plugs to minimize the disturbances and have a good night’s sleep.
