Zaleplon – Snorting Zaleplon

What is Zaleplon?

It is hypnotic and is used as a sleeping pill. It is also known as Sonata, which is a brand name of the drug. After snorting zaleplon, individuals tend to hallucinate and get a sense of euphoria.

It is a white or off-white powder. In its pure form, it is not soluble in water or alcohol or even propylene alcohol. It is taken orally, usually when it is prescribed as a medicine. This is in the form of a pill. When it is abused as a drug, it is usually used in the powder form and snorted.

Side effects of Zaleplon snorting

It is a nonbenzodiazepine drug. This class of drugs is known to have lesser potential to be abused as compared to benzodiazepine drugs. But zaleplon are still a high risk drug.

Some of the common side-effects of snorting zaleplon are listed below.

  • Hallucinations
  • Abnormal behaviour
  • Headaches
  • Drowsiness throughout the day
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Amnesia, especially retrograde amnesia in which the individual does not remember anything about th time that he/she was under the influence of the drug

It is used in the treatment of insomnia as it induces sleep. But because it is addictive, it is never used as a prescription drug for more than two weeks.

Zaleplon is addictive in nature. Due to this, if an individual is deprived of it after prolonged use, he/she may experience withdrawal symptoms which could include restlessness, mood swings and anxiety among other symptoms.
