Causes of Snoring
- Enlarged tissues: Enlarged tissues in the nose, mouth, or throat and enlarged tonsils are a frequent cause of snoring.
- Nasal obstruction: Nasal obstruction may be caused by an upper respiratory infection such as a cold, an allergy, or nasal polyps.
- A deviated nasal septum, which disturbs airflow in the nose
- Enlarged adenoids and tonsils
- Small jaw or small airway
- Loss of muscle tone in the throat, which makes it easier to collapse, can cause snoring. This can be due to lack of fitness or aging.
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) is also one of the major causes of snoring.
- Lying on the back contributes to snoring
- Age factor: Age can be a major factor for Age. The older you get, the weaker your throat muscles become and this causes snoring.
- Smoking or drinking or drugs use can also be a major cause of snoring.
- Use of certain medications especially sedatives
